Aconitum radice, prepared from the root of Aconitum napellus (family Ranunculaceæ), is one of the most rapid-acting remedies in acute homoeopathy.
It is especially indicated in sudden, violent onset of illness following fright, shock, or exposure to cold dry winds, with marked anxiety, fear, and vascular excitement.

Acute Onset with Fear & Anxiety (Core Keynote)

• Sudden illness with intense fear, panic, and restlessness
• Fear of death, predicts time of dying
• Tossing, cannot remain still
• Complaints after shock, fright, or emotional trauma

Fever & Acute Inflammation

• High fever with dry, burning skin
• Intense thirst, no perspiration
• Full, bounding pulse with vascular excitement
• Early stage of inflammation before exudation

Respiratory Disorders (Early Stage)

• Dry, croupy, hoarse cough after cold wind exposure
• First stage of croup, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy
• Chest constriction with fear of suffocation
